Raj Ashraya – A Collection Home
The Collector Couple, Roohi and Rajiv Savara are recognised for their contribution as both, Collectors and Connoisseurs of Pre-Modern and Modern Indian Art. Both Roohi and Rajiv recognised the need for world-class Museums in India showcasing the very best examples of creativity in the Indian Visual and the Decorative Arts. With this in mind, the Savaras’ have collected over a span of close to three decades, with an unerring eye backed by scholarship, the very finest in the Indian Visual and the 18th through the early 20th century Decorative Arts.
Raj Ashraya – A Collection Home, on being built in the year 2004, became perhaps, the very first Collection Museum in India. Located in a gated community in New Delhi, Raj Ashraya – A Collection Home is home to the Collector Couple and to their selection of the finest examples of Pre-Modern and Modern Indian Visual and the Decorative Arts spanning from the 18th through the early 20th century along with a smattering of Japanese Works of Arts from the Meiji Period. The Works of the Indian Visual Arts collected by Roohi and Rajiv Savara are of those Indian Artists who the Savaras’, over their collecting career, believed would “50 years hence, define pre-Modern and Modern Indian Art.”
