Matra Ashram – An Abode to Creativity and Thought
Mission:
“Knowledge creation and sharing inspire change”
Matra Ashram – An Abode to Creativity and Thought is an anchorage for knowledge creation and dissemination on South Asian Arts and Climate Change, that seeks to fulfill the aspirations of the Collector-couple, Roohi & Rajiv Savara and their belief that knowledge creation and knowledge sharing inspire change.
Mandate:
“The Arts and Climate Change”
The culturally (the ancient city of Rishikesh being the UNESCO Heritage City for Yoga) and environmentally (the Gangotri glacier in the Himalayas being the source of the Ganges River System) sensitive settings in which the Roohi & Rajiv Savara Family Collection is located, allows for the review of planetary history through the interweaving of the ecological history with the aesthetic and cultural histories of the South Asian region.
Matra Ashram – An Abode to Creativity and Thought provides a fertile intellectual environment that fosters fellowships and grants that create scholarships on how the human-centric world is viewed with the planetary world, thus addressing the two key civilizational concerns of the South Asian Region today- deepen the existing understandings on cultural history and climate change.
